1,000 Handstand Attempts
So the title sounds lame, right? I think this might be something fun and simple to get us kickstarted into working into handstands and conditioning in general.
So here are the guidelines:
My definition of a handstand attempt is going to be either:
(1) getting into a handstand against the wall (ie: starting on hands and feet, pushing into a handstand against the wall, with back against wall, then coming back down to feet)
or
(2) attempting a freestanding handstand lasting x seconds (the seconds not being a big deal).
Be honest with yourself about if you feel the handstand attempt was a good handstand attempt.
The idea here is to try to better grasp how a handstand feels (also working our shoulders, core, arms, and control). And with this simple conditioning game, it makes us feel more accomplished just by even attempting a handstand. Not feeling bad for not getting handstands right away, but working at it slowly.
So... this may be a quick 5,000 or it may take longer, but I think that EVERYONE can participate. I would love to see atleast 20+ members at the end of this have greater than 1% participation into the 5,000 attempts.

Re: 5,000 Handstand Attempts
Just to clarify, we should hold the handstands for as long as possible right?
EDIT: Would you also mind posting a video or sharing some knowledge as to proper form?

Re: 5,000 Handstand Attempts
I'll get a video up as soon as I can and I'll put it on the topmost post, I'm at work thinking about this right now so I'll share a video later.
And yes, I would try to hold the handstand as long as possible.

Re: 5,000 Handstand Attempts
Hello Jeremy, I'd like to put in a request, let me know if there are any objections. It seems to me that 5,000 may be too vast of a number considering the time spent per rep of this particular exercise, so I was considering suggesting 1,000 as an initial goal. With other workouts such as pull-ups and push-ups, we have finished before, so I have no doubt they will be fine. For handstand attempts however, may I suggest we start small and work our way up in increments?

This has been changed to 1,000 Handstand Attempts! Please note. Now we can really get the numbers started.

Re: 1,000 Handstand Attempts (Changed!!)
I'd also like to propose switching it from back against wall to stomach against wall, with the hands at the most 8 inches from the wall, with the aim being for 2 inches from the wall. Stomach to wall ensures your body is in a relatively straight line. It's harder, and you can't hold it as long, but it's more productive until your ready to start balancing. Also, for those (like me) who can't hold a free standing handstand, once your semi-comfortable with the stomach to wall handstands, you might try kicking up to the wall (back to wall), but tucking your legs like in an adv. tuck planche, keeping a straight body position. I just kind of bounce off the wall in an extended handstand but in a tuck I can usually balance for a bit (like 5 seconds).
Ouch. Here's another suggestion: if your trying to balance by bending your arms and arching your back, don't pile-drive your head into the floor....
